Question Infant bucket and RF convertible side by side in a Camry

Hi,
I am trying to decide whether we need to buy a minivan or we can do with our sedan with two kids. Does anyone have a RF covertible next to an infant bucket in a Camry? Seat belt installs, our Camry is 2001. I figure it's cheaper to buy a new seat if I have to than to buy a van. Right now our almost 2 yo is RF in a TFP center rear seat. Thanks!!

I'm thinking you'll probably want a narrower convertible, but with a narrow infant seat as well as a narrower convertible it will probably work out just fine. :)

I will also throw out a practical point to consider...while the center is the safest from a crash perspective...

My DD was 2 years 2 months when DFS was born. It was not safe for her to be sitting where she could reach him. She would grab his arms and yank them, take his binky, chuck toys on him, grab his blanket, etc. He was MUCH safer from a practical perspective being out of arms reach from her.

So, you may find that from a practicality standpoint, outboard is safer for the newbie.

I was able to install a forward facing sunshine kids Radian in the middle and a graco snugride 32 on the side in my 03 Camry, so it is possible. Especially if you choose a narrower infant seat. I doubt you will be able to do it with the TFP though.

I had an older, (maybe 95 Camry with leather seats). I had a Radian 65 RF center with it pulled more toward the driver's side (since radian was narrower than the space between where the male/female belts came out of bight at) with lapbelt install and a Graco Safeseat with base (like a Snugride 32/35) next to it behind the passenger with no problem. Keep in mind with the graco that the round part where the handle meets the seat sticks out a tad further than the actual base. This is why I pulled the RN over a tad so that it wasn't pushing on the radian.

I had a sedan with our first child but just concluded that we need a bigger vehicle with two kids. So we went with the van. If the only gear was carseats, it would be a no-brainer, but with strollers, diaper bags, etc., I just need came to the conclusion that my grand prix would not cut it.

On the other hand, Camrys, like Corollas, have nice, big, deceptively large trunks. Mine can hold 2 double strollers (one big, one compact), 2 umbrella strollers, diaper bag, emergency changes bag, emergency supplies kit, jumper cables and battery charger, half a case of water, blankets, and still have room for a bag or two of groceries. ;)

yep, I miss my Camry's trunk. The Caravan has NO space.
