toddlers and convertible boosters?

I have a friend who's trying to juggle car seats between her 2 daughters and we're trying to come up with the most efficient (cost & use) way to go about this.

She currently has the baby in a snugride and her 3 year old in a marathon. The baby will fit in the marathon. She's not sure if she should buy another marathon or buy something longer-term for the older girl and put the baby in the marathon.

Is it safe to put a 3 yo in a regent or apex or something like that? She'd be harnessed obviously. She's 37" tall and 34 lbs currently ff in a ma.

Also, what are some good cheaper "2nd seats" for their 2nd car that will hold them as long as possible?

If she fits in the Marathon she'll fit in an Apex, and provided they have headrests that'd be a great seat for her. A Regent of course would be a wonderful seat, offering four inches more of torso height in a harness than a Marathon or Apex. A radian would also work, giving another inch over a Marathon's top slot.

Really? I never saw them say that. Oh well, it doesn't matter. I don't know why they'd put an age on them. I would suspect she fits in both of them well, and they're both harnessed seats. So I'd pick one or the other.

Where did you see them post an age? I'm curious.
