car seats & leather

So we are buying a 2006 Toyota Sienna van and it has leather seats. I will be installing a True Fit RFing and a Nautilus in the 2 second row seats. Am I going to need to put anything on the leather seats? Can I put a towel under the seats? I am never had to install on leather so I don't know how it will go. Any advice would help so much.

No, you don't 'need' to. You should never 'fix' an installation on leather by adding something. All it does is disguise a bad installation.

If you want to protect your leather seats, a thin towel or sheet is permissible.

I rarely do. There's often a bit more wiggle with leather because it's smooth plastic against smooth leather, but I don't normally put anything under there.

I will keep that in mind. I can just cut up an old holey sheet if I really need but I am hoping to not have a problem.

I have a Pacifica with leather seats, and never put anything under my seats. I think it would be harder to get them tight, it's a little harder because of the leather anyway....

But how do you know that the towel is not disguising a too loose install?

I know that would not (and don't in my car with leather) take that chance with my kids seats. :twocents:

I have always used a receiving blanket in my car with cloth seats. I may do the same in the leather seat van but I don't have it yet to try.
