Question Tiny bit of movement w/Nauti or booster?

Every time I install 7yo's Nauti (seatbelt, 3rd row 2005 Yukon XL, leather), it's tight when I'm done. No movement at the belt path. And no matter how tight it is, it eventually loosens- I twist the female buckle stalk, locking retractor belts and it does shift a bit at the belt path- more like front to back movement of the seat than side to side if that makes sense. It's not huge, but I think it's probably 2". She wants to stay harnessed in her Nauti but I'm wondering if boostering her wouldn't be safer since the install of the Nauti isn't 100% perfect. She's 36lbs and does fit well in the Monterey and I would buy a ProBooster to see if the fit is even more perfect, but the Monterey would definately be acceptable. She's exactly 7.5yo and very mature- sits better in a booster than my 10yo, actually.

Thoughts?

A properly used booster is safer than an improperly used harness. And at her age and maturity, there's no benefit of the harness over the booster.

I'd booster her.

Thanks Susan. I wouldn't hesitate if the install on the Nauti was considered "bad"- since the movement is front to back, I keep feeling like I should ignore it and just test at the belt path, but I don't like my seats to move at ALL, so it's bugging the heck out of me. And she really wants to stay harnessed, so I don't want her to feel like she's stepping down in safety. We've always told the kids that 40lbs is the minimum for booster use and she knows that she's 4lbs short, so to her, we're breaking a major "rule", kwim?

Locking clip?

Though, my Radian would move like that if I tugged it the right way, so I just don't tug it that way...

Oh, do your seatbacks recline? Recline, install, re-upright...usually stays tighter with that. Reclined Nauti? Tried putting it upright? Vice Versa?

I'm not clear on exactly what the movement is. There needs to be less than an inch of movement, side to side OR front to back, at the belt path. If you have 2 inches front to back at the belt path, it's unacceptable. If the belt path is tight, but you're getting movement somewhere else, no big deal.

Front-to-back movement is part of the test. The seat needs to move less than 1" in ANY direction, side to side or front to back. If it's moving front to back 2", then the seat is not installed correctly, not even close.

Move her to the booster; that installation cannot be considered safe.

I'd like to see a picture of her in the Monterey...I'm fascinated to see a 36 pounder fit well in that seat!
