My 8yo is going back into a HBB for a vacation. I put the back on his TB and when he sits in the garage in it, there's 2-3 inches of room between his shoulders and the belt guides. When I put it in the car, he's dead even with them and says it's uncomfortable, he cannot "shrug" at all.
I also have the Evenflo Big Kid Deluxe. When I set it next to the TB in the garage, the TB is a good 2 inches taller but when I put it in the car, he is about the same, even with the belt guides. The difference is the headwings are smaller by about an inch so his shoulders don't hit them as much.
Would you let him ride on an 8 hour drive in the Big Kid? Or make him be uncomfortable in the TB? I don't like the idea of him riding backless for that long (he is backless at home) because he falls asleep on long drives and then tips over.
My only other option is a Britax Parkway (which I would love to get him to ride in) but it's the Tiffany cover so it's pink. I would have to find him a different cover before Saturday.
What would you suggest??
