Is there any benefit to upgrading?

My 7 mo DD is currently in a 2006 Boulevard. My only real gripe about the Boulevard is that the fabric is HOT. Thus far, she's off the chart in height. Assuming she continues the same growth pattern, she'll likely outgrow any seat in height well before she hits the weight limit. Is there any real benefit to upgrading to a new seat, or will we be better off to stick with the Boulevard until it expires?

Other than a different cover, not right now. However, for a very tall baby, right about the time the Boulevard expires, I'd be looking for a taller rear facing seat. So if you want to make that switch now that's fine, but I wouldn't say there's a pressing reason to make a change at the moment, other than the cover.

Most kids outgrow car seats by height before they hit the weight limit. With a super tall child, you'll just be doing it sooner. My DS is on the 97th+ for height and he outgrew our Decathlon before his 5th birthday.

My suggestion is somewhere in-between. I'd stick with the Blvd for now - probably for a yearish or so. Since the main issue right now is the heat, maybe just continue to use the Blvd through the spring and buy a new seat in next summer.

I'd definitely recommend replacing your seat when your DD approaches the rf limit of the seat. Your seat should have a 33lb rf limit and my experience is that most children fit in it by height rf to 33lbs. But with other seats out with higher shells, I would suggest buying a new seat at that point to keep your DD rf longer - hopefully at least to 3 years old since she is so tall. In a year or so, there might be some other car seats available to better fit your DD.

If you need information about why to keep your DD rf beyond a year, let us know.

my tall skinny 3 yr old will prob outgrow her Marathon(same shell as blv) at the exact same time. I can say this about the britax seats they RF skinny kids to the RFing limit of 33lbs lol Just wished they would RF skinny tall kids to 40!!! I would keep this seat for now and wait till something comes out that is better than what is out there now like a 40lbs limit TruFitPremier. What cover do you have for your BLV?? Our Marathon cover is plush but even on the hottest days is always cool to put DD in. Its the yellow flower one?? Right now we are in GA and its 100degrees and humid and there are only air vents in the front of our car and mine ddhas not been sweaty yet. Basically maybe buying a different cover as a temp fix until you actually need a new seat
