On Board

A family I was taking care of tonight brought in the already discharged twin in the On Board from Target. So, I got to play with it a bit. Baby was 6 lbs, 0.8 oz. Mom asked me to weigh her. Baby was on the 2nd slots, and they fit right, at least in the nursery. She had it in the middle crotch slot, which also seemed okay. I wanted to check since Judi said the harness wouldn't tighten enough on a baby for her. So when mom put baby in to go, I had a look at it. At first it wasn't tightening evenly, so took baby out and loosened it all the way, checked the splitter plate/ harness, and all looked fine. Put baby back in and now it seemed to be fine. Got her all in there, then checked and found about 2 more inches to tighten harness all the way. So, it worked fine for this particular baby.

Of note, the handle sucked. It was very hard to push the things in to make it move. I had to try several times before I got it to work.

Just wanted to share.:)

Thanks. I have no doubt that a 6 lber will fit. I am more afraid of the under 5 crowd.

Out of cuiosity Judi, did you shorten the buckle strap with the tiny baby? Would that help the tightness of the straps. I just am astounded that the baby you had didn't fit, I believe what you're saying, but the straps on mine get so, so tiny it just amazes me.

I thought it went small too! I will have to do a comparison thread. Maybe later this week. I have a class to teach with Autumnlily tomorrow plus installs, and more installs.

If it is the less expensive 5 pound minimum version, then it may be marginal for a 6 pound baby.

If it is the more expensive 4 pound minimum version, then a 6 pound baby should fit quite well. This version adjusts fairly small, even to fit preemies below 6 pounds. You do have an extra crotch strap shortening adjustment on this version that is necessary to fit the 4 pound preemie doll and presumably babies of similar size.

That is probably the difference. I have been working with the less expensive version.
