Chicco CS

Aren't the stickers on a carseat and carseat base SUPPOSE to be on a base/seat? The stickers on the base peeled off and I just called Chicco to see what to do and they said they don't send out replacement stickers and the seat will be perfectly fine without them. This information just seems odd to me.

Mine peeled off my SS1 and Graco wouldn't replace them so I am not totally surprised Chicco wouldn't.

Ok, so its fine to use. I know how to install it and everything. Not a problem. If I hosed the base off, would the water hurt the latch straps the same it would the harness on the seat? The reason I ask this, is because our seizure cat was laying on it and had a seizure and peed on it. When I asked this to CS, they never did give me an answer.

Hmm, I had the same thing happen to my Keyfit. I called and they sent me a new seat shell and base and a shipping label to return the old one. I'm in Canada, not sure if that makes a difference.

You're the miniority. There's been a few threads about the stickers coming off and they just say they're not replaceable here. That's what i was told as well.

Call back and inform them that the stickers are required by law to be PERMANENTLY attached. See if that changes their tune.

If they won't fix it, report it to the relevant federal authority (NHTSA in the US, Transport Canada in Canada.)

Ok, I emailed the lady back and we will see what she says. Hopefully I don't need to order a new base, cause $80 right now would be tight!

Why would water hurt the harness or the LATCH straps? It's just water:confused:

And about the sticker issue...report it to the NHTSA if Chicco won't resolve it. While, yes, the base is of course safe to use without the stickers, a sticker-less restraint no longer meets FMVSS/CMVSS (depending on your country) and a seat that doesn't meet FMVSS/CMVSS is technically illegal to use so you *could* be ticketed. Not likely, but possible. The manufacturer is supposed to permanently affix the stickers to the seat and they obviously haven't done that since stickers seem to be falling off willy-nilly all over the place these days:thumbsdown:

Which stickers? The ones on the side or the ones on the top?

The ones on the side are removeable and say "peel here" on them. They are advertising stickers. The ones on the top have the info about latch storage and installation.

It is the sticker that goes down the middle of the base. The lady called me back Thursday while we were loading the van to leave for Montana and she said, it's not illegal to not have the stickers on there for use, its just illegal to sell them without the stickers.

So, I dunno what to do.

The sticker not being there doesn't effect how the seat functions/if it's safe for use, ect. As long as you are the one using it and you've got the instructions...it's not that big of a deal. Although it will be noted at a check event that the stickers were missing...I don't think they'd do anything unless they had replacement seats.

Did the DOM sticker come off too?

I'd report it to the NHTSA, personally.

Nope, the DOM sticker is still in place. The part that is missing is the spanish version of how to install.
