I called about tether anchors again today - UPDATE w/part number for '99 Suburban

Why are people so clueless? I had to explain in detail what I was talking about.

I said tether anchors and got "uhhh, what?". I had to go into about the anchor points behind the seats you attach the top of baby seats to. It was nuts.

The guy finally got it and had me look in my manual for part numbers or whatever. This is the extent of what my manual says:

If you need to have an anchor bracket installed for a second row seat or a center rear seat, you can ask your dealer to put it in for you. If you want to install the anchor yourself, your dealer can tell you how to do it.

Yeah. Not so much in reality. I should take pics of the car seat pictures in my manual. T-shields, over head shields, and lap only boosters.

They guy promised to research it and get back to me tomorrow. He did seem genuinely nice and willing to help. I hope he stays that way when I tell him I need 3 locations.

Yay! He just called me back. I can order a set for each seat for $7 each. He's not sure how it works, but I guess that's something, right?

Should I tell him to get 3? I'm afraid that they'll show up and be nothing more than the strap I've seen here, thus making 2 unusable.

If I can't tether the 2nd row at all, per instructions....disclaimer, I know this is not allowed and no tech can tell me to do it....

But hypothetically speaking.... all hypotheticals... if you couldn't tether per the vehicles instructions, would it hypothetically be safer to tether to a d-ring wrapped around a solid bar under the vehicle seat the child restraint is installed in? Hypothetically. ;)

No. A D-ring is not meant to take the forces from a forward facing tether. The job a RF tether does, is less force because it's on rebound.

OMG, big shout out to the Part dept at Tom Light in College Station. Especially Mike. He called around until he found a dealership with them instock and had them describe them. They are through the floor anchors and work in the 2nd and 3rd row. I'm getting my tether anchors!!!! I am so happy.

Anyone else with a '99 Suburban that needs them, they do exist!! The part number is 15010137 :D

I'm so glad you found a parts dept that would do the research for you! They really know more than the service dept. Congrats!!!
