A few years ago I was a trained CPST thru NHTSA, it has since expired, but I do still have a passion for safe carseats and spreading that word. I have a few friends that don't exactly share my passion, but want more info and to help their kids to be safer. I am wondering if there is one site or one place to go that would have simple, yet good info. on the important things that people should know. Like, ERF, extended boostering, dangers of lap belts, (just saw a friend's FB pic of her 6 year old twins using only a lap belt. Just some basics of carseat installing and safety. I seem to find all this info, but not in one easy spot. Just a note the friends I am telling this to all want to know this info. I will recommend that they go to a certified place to have inspections done, since I am no longer certified.
This conversation was spurred when a group of friends and I got together for a couponing group and somehow we got on the discussion of carseats and a friend confessed to me that she had a used seat that she did not know where it came from and it was probably beyond expired and she was embarrassed to show me it. It was for her 4 year old daughter. I explained the dangers of tha seat and the importance of extended harnessing. I informed her that Target had their GN's on clearance and I am happy to report the next day she went and bought one in pink none the less! It made me feel that my words may have saved her daughter.
Thanks for the help!
