I found a 3 across that works in my car, but it involves my 1 year old being RF in a Scenera. I know it is a perfectly good seat but I feel SO guity that my 2 year old and the new baby have nice cushy seats and he doesnt...

I actually really like the Scenera and my son has used it RF and FF quite a few times. I feel very comfortable with him using it. It's not a cushy seat or anything but I wouldn't hesitate to use it.

I know it is safe I just feel bad that my other babies get a CA and a SR35 and he is in that... I mean, it is only till February then he gets his CA back but I am really trying to talk myself out of buying him a cushier seat!! If my stupid back seat was just a bit wider this wouldn't be an issue... I don't want him to be uncomfortable or anything in it though.

IF he complains, then address his discomfort.

Otherwise, IMO, in families everyone gets what they need. Sometimes that means some family members have more expensive things than others do. I recently had a colonoscopy, and it was costly even with insurance. My husband did not feel the need to have an expensive invasive procedure done just so we'd be even. ;)

To make you feel better, for a almost a year, DD1 rode in a base model Evenflo Titan V (not the Titan Elite)--it didn't have any EPS foam in it. It did have foam cushion behind the head though. Likewise, the cover was very thin. But she couldn't have been any happier:) I ended up purchasing her a Britax but she didn't seem any more happier than she was in the Titan V.:) Here is a pic of her in it when she was 11 mos old:)

Thank you so much guys :D I feel so much better now! You guys sure do rock at talking a crazy pregnant lady off her carseat ledge! I put him in it to adjust the straps a bit ago and he seems perfectly happy so hopefully we have no problems with it

DD2 had, for a long time, access to a Roundabout, a Scenera, and a Wizard. At age 4, she preferred the Scenera, and was pretty sad when I insisted that she had outgrown it (she hit 40lbs at 4.5 years old and just about the exact moment her shoulders reached the top harness slot) and I gave it away to a family which needed it.

It's not exactly the same, but I have two kids who ride in Cosco boosters and have no complaints vs the Nautilus and Montereys I have for the other monkeys. (And trust me, they'd complain.)

My backup RF seat is a Scenera. I've put a four year old in it (RF!) routinely and she had no complaints. It's not the fanciest seat on the market, but it is economical, puzzles well in certain circumstances and isn't too shabby on the room, either.

You do what you've gotta do -- trust me, I know that better than anyone lol -- and RF in a Scenera is far from a bad deal!

I used a Scenera every day (rear-facing) for more than a year for a primary seat for my second child. She was happy and comfortable in it. She was in a crash while riding in it and it performed perfectly and kept her safe. I've had several since and not hesitated to use them.

In fact I have one in my garage right now. If the new Coccoro isn't out in time for Next Baby, I plan to use it to bring Next Baby home in. :)

DD2 used the scenera for her primary seat for awhile. Then it became our back up seat. She's back in it now due to my indecisiveness about what seat to get next. I was/am trying to hold out for the onside air. I do have a CA LX otw though. The scenera has more legroom than the fpsvd/BVs.

It does have a good amount of leg room... my kiddo who is in the Scenera WAS in the CA but we needed the CA for my oldest because his Nautilus was just no way no how fitting in the back seat of my car with a SR35 and another seat. So yeah...

Ummmm, I have to HIDE our Scenera to get my 2.5yr old to ride in her MA or Maestro....seriously. It has zero padding and I hate the straps, but Sophie loves that seat and actually cries for it.

I know that there are plenty of kids who are comfy in the Scenera, so I hope that this post doesn't come across otherwise; I just wanted to mention an alternative to research for the future in case you have actual complaints (which I think is unlikely) about the Scenera.

It appears as though the upcoming $99 onSide Air convertible might be based on the Scenera's shell. I don't think anyone on this site has played with one in person yet, so it's more speculation based on pictures at this point that the 2 seats are similar. I think that it might be more cushioned (and rear-faces to 40 pounds), so it may be something to keep in mind as a seat that might still fit where you need it in the car, given how similar it seems to be to the Scenera, but might have more cushioning if wanted by your kiddo down the road.

Some onSide Air links:
Safety 1st's Air Protect site
Kmart.com link (it's $89 there right now, but it's not in stock)

On the NHTSA's testing the Scenera did quite well, the results both forward facing and rear facing were comparable to many other convertibles that are sold for many times it's price  .
