Success! Converted 3 year old from booster to harness!

I was looking through my friend's FB photos last night and came across one of her just turned 3 year old in a HBB.

So I sent her this note:

"Hey girl. I was just looking through your pics and noticed Henry riding in a booster seat with the adult seat belt. Did you know at his age and maturity he should really still be in a 5 point harness seat? The majority of children are nit ready for a booster until 5-6 years of age. This is mostly because they are not mature enough to sit properly in the seat one hundred percent of the time. Please do not take offense to me " butting in." I have done ALLOT of research on car seat safety lately and have learned so much...like it is recommended to keep children rear facing to a minimum of age 2 but preferably as long as possible! How does the saying go?...kids should come with manuals!"

She replied:

"Not offended at all. In my car he's in a harness seat. I was thinking the same thing for Dave's car. My mom is the one who insists it's fine. Then there's Dave "We never had car seats growing up!" Whatever- you just confirmed my inner worry! He does sit like a good boy, but I think I'll be shopping for a new seat this weekend!"

So I couldn't help myself:

"What is your budget for a seat? I can suggest one for you."

I am so excited! Yey!:D

Yup and it looks like the shoulder belt is over the armrest and not under it (the lap belt looks under), which may improve the fit, but moot point since she's getting him a new seat I guess. Maybe mention it to her anyway so she knows later when he IS ready for a booster.

That's a Pronto, which has a weight minimum of 30 pounds. He does meet the minimums.

Also, unless you have specific permission to post that picture, I'd recommend removing it. This is a publicly searchable forum and I know that I'd be livid if someone lifted my child's photograph in this manner :twocents:

I thought it was OK if the face was blurred. I'll take it off.

Photographs are proprietary, so unless you have permission to use someone else's picture, it's actually considered stealing.

Also, just imagine how you would feel if someone took your child's picture and posted on an internet forum to criticize something you had done, even if she meant it kind-heartedly.

Especially with this kind of forum, you don't want parents coming here and thinking that the members will take private photographs and criticize them, ya know?

Thanks for removing it :D

I understand. I wasn't trying to criticize her...just proud of my "accomplishment." I posted it to figure out if he met the requirements on that seat since her mom says "he's just fine" in it in her car.
