Installing Britax in 2006 Honda Civic

We bought a Britax Marathon over the weekend and had owner of the baby goods store install it for us. He installed it behind the passenger seat, telling us that it would be most secure here. The seat appears to be very secure and it doesn't move at all. Is this seat best installed behind the passenger seat where it seems to be a secure fit but closer to the door in the event of a side collision, or is it best to have it in the middle with a less secure fitting but not near either door in the event of a collision? We live in NYC where driving is an absolute bear, so I want to make sure our 4-month-old is as protected as possible. Thank you in advance!

The best position for the seat is the one which gets the tightest install. So, definately use the outboard position. My daughter has almost always been outboard because we get a much better install that way.

The most secure fit rule always trumps the center position rule (even though the center position isnt really a rule);) The ENTIRE backseat is remarkably safe and I would feel comfortable with my DD outboard in a car. It is great if you can get a good center install, but if not, dont worry about it. :)

I have a 2006 Civic too.

I currently have a RF Britax Boulevard installed behind the driver's seat, using lower anchors and a RF tether. The install is so tight that I can shake the entire car when I barely even tug on the seat. :)

I am able to get a great install in the center too, but it is not as secure as the outboard installation due to a (very, very) slight issue with the seatbelt. I feel comfortable using either the center or the outboard positions in my car.

I think you should be fine with an outboard installation. Thankfully the 2006 Civic is a dream in which to install carseats. :)
