My Frontier 85 broke

Ohh, I'm so irritated! The arm rest on my new (had it less than a week) Frontier 85 broke today. DD1 was just climbing into the seat and it snapped
Oh and to add to my complaining; the seat belt doesn't retract through the belt guides, it installs way to reclined ff in harness mode (reminds me of the MyRide ) and there isn't any steel reinforcements. I'm really not liking this seat

That sucks that it broke on you. I'm sure they'll replace it. That being said, mine isn't too reclined at all. In fact I'd say it's very upright. Also, if you wanted a seat with steel reinforcement, why didn't you buy one with it? It wouldn't that hard to find out whether it is reinforced with steel.

Ya, I'm going to call Britax tomorrow. I guess I didn't bother to even look to see if it had steel reinforcement, I just assumed it did  But I'm just complaining...don't mind me
As for the install; the manual says the recline block needs to be in the forward position for harness mode which causes the Frontier to be super reclined and it I try to install it more upright there is a huge gap between the Frontier and my vehicle seat.

Sounds like an excuse for you to order ther prosport  Bummer it broke already. Mine isn't reclined in our durango, but in the car it is.. not as bad as the myride but still reclined. I think it just depends on the vehicle seat.

Trust me, I wish now that I would have just waited for the ProSport
I do think it does depend on the vehicle seat. As soon as I find my camera I'll take some pics.
I have the SG clip on the Frontier now and I do really love it as a booster. I've been locking the seat belt so that it not retracting isn't an issue.

The armrest on mine broke right after I got it as well-Memorial Day weekend so I couldn't call either. I called customer service and they sent me two replacement arm rests and the hardware. It arrived in a few days. They also said as long as I was using the harness it was fine to continue using while waiting for the replacements.

Do you have a huge gap between the Frontier and your vehicle seat?

Are you using it in harness mode? I had a gap at first in our Mazda5 when I installed it using the short belt path, but after reclining the captain's chair seat back a click or two and installing it with the long belt path it was completely flush against the seat. I don't find it to be too reclined either.

You're definitely not the first to have this happen. I think we've had at least 3 reports on the board and they're even selling the armrest as a replacement piece now.

Yes, I can recline my captains seat a few clicks and the Frontier is flush against my vehicle seat BUT then its really reclined :(

I don't really have a gap at all, although when I initially installed it I remember thinking it was going to be problem. I have learned to recline the seat way back when I install. I install with the LBP, just tightly enough so that it doesn't slide forward off of the vehicle seat when I let go. I upright the seat to take the remaining slack out of the belt. It's pretty rock solid without stressing out the seat belt too much. The seatback is not straight up and down, but definitely at an upright angle. Probably the same angle you'd use for an adult passenger.

I have also installed it in a sedan and needed the LBP to keep it flush against the seat back. Are you using the LBP? What vehicle do you have with captain's chairs? I've gotten an upright install in both an Odyssey and a Windstar. My sister has an older frontier in a Freestar with no gap.

Just got off the phone with Britax, they are sending me 2 new arm rests. They said that they have been having this problem but the new arm rests are stronger & reinforced :) So, I'm happy

Glad they're sending you new parts. I wonder if the new cowmoo are going to have stronger arm rests. We're holding out for one.

Do you push the seat back, with your legs, and hold it there, while kneeling in it to install?
