What seats do not allow locking of the seat belt with lock offs?

I believe there are a few seats that do not allow the seat belt to be locked if there is a built in lock off on the seat, correct? If there are, what are they?

Right, the TF. I think the Coccoro recommends not doing it, but doesn't force the issue (it can cause the seat to tip as the retractor locks if you have it around the back).

So the TF (and kind of the CCO) is the only seat that forbids it? None of the infant bases say you can't lock the seat belt if there's a lock off?

Are we sure the TF forbids it? I don't remember reading that in the manual and I've read it a few times.

Never an issue for me b/c mine locked at the retractor anyway...

We had a question about the Chicco Keyfit in my tech class. One fo the instructors called her Chicco rep (I forget the name), who checked it out, called her back, and told her that you should NOT lock the seat belt and should always use the lock off. I thought it was strange, but that's what they said. I also learned that Chicco is pronounces Key-co, not Chee-co (what I'd always said).

Can anyone confirm? I always installed mine with LATCH.

You should always use the lockoff with a lap and shoulder belt, yes, and I never lock the belt (because I'm using the lockoff). You don't use the lockoff with LATCH or a lapbelt only. And yes, it's pronounced Key-ko. Like Britax is Breye-tax, not Brih-tax.

Are you referring to the TrueFit? The lockoffs are always used, with any installation method, including LATCH or lap-only.

The Keyfit manual specifies that the lockoff must ALWAYS be used, but ALSO says that the shoulder belt MAY be locked if you have a switchable retractor, as an optional step AFTER the seat is tightly installed using the lockoff.

I just gave a quick once over to the Canadian True Fit manual and I couldn't see anywhere they prohibited locking the vehicle's belt. From what I can tell, they don't mention locking or not locking the belt. They just give instructions on the install that include using the lock off of the TF.

Right. The Instructor called to clarify and was told not to lock the belt. I wish I knew who she talked to. It was not a CS rep, but more of a Sarah Tilton-type person, if that makes sense. We were all baffled b/c it isn't what the manual states.

Britax has said that as long as the belt is locked it's not that important, do what gives a tight and convenient install-- lock the belt, use one lockoff, use both lockoffs.

Personally, I would rather trust the manual than a rep. on the phone.
The manual clearly says that you can lock the seatbelt after using the lock-off on the keyfit.

I emailed Learning Curve about whether or not it was ok to lock the seatbelt after installing with the lockoffs and just received a response that locking the seatbelt in addition to using the lockoffs is allowed, but not necessary.
