the article in Parenting magazine about kids left in hot cars -- I think it was the June issue? Anyway ---- that is a whole other topic ... my question is - I was curious what type of infant seat was shown in the article? I tried to pull up a copy online, but they didn't load the same pics in the online version of the article. The seatbelt appears to be routed behind the infant seat, instead of across the lap. What type of infant seat does that?

I read it, but can't remember the picture of the car seat. I know some Combi seats used to do that, the Tyro and Connection in particular.

I didn't see it, but it could be a stock photo, too, meaning that it might not even be a US seat. That type of routing (if I understand your description correctly) is common on European infant seats.

The only current US seat that does that is the Combi Coccoro (convertible). I don't know about any past seats that did.

Doesn't one of the infant seats do that when you DON'T use the base? But yeah, I think it was the Tyro that had around the back routing, and a few other Combi seats.

Could it have been a Safety 1st infant seat? My SIL owned one for one of my nephews & I remember the side of the bucket instructing to route the shoulder belt behind the seat when used baseless. I remember pointing it out to her & I am 100% sure it was a Safety 1st seat to.

I can't tell much from that pic and didn't see the article but the seat cover kinda looks familiar. Could it be a Gerry rock and glide seat? I had that seat for my oldest and it was probably expired or close to it then as I bought it clearanced (it was a display seat) when I was planning on trying to have a baby and stored it a couple of years. Anyway, I only used that seat once to bring her home from the hospital because I couldn't get our seatbelt to go around the back of the seat like it said. The only seat in the car that would do it was the front seat. My dh went out and bought a new seat the next day.

Eta on closer inspection that is not a rock and glide seat but does have a cover similar to my rock and glide. Could it be some kind of old Gerry seat?

I know the Connection for sure had instructions for routing the shoulder belt behind the seat, if desired. There are other infant seats that allow it too, but I don't remember them off-hand. If someone has the 2005 SBS USA instructions CD and wants to go through the infant seat summaries, they would be listed there. ;)

I had an old as dirt Evenflo bucket to install baseless for my final test inspection in my CPST class that allowed the belt on the back of the bucket...

My Safety 1st Designer 22 says that, but I've never had a belt long enough to do it. I always use the base anyway.
