Just wishful thinking but i would LOVE LOVE LOVE it if Britax would rate their Parkway down to 30lbs.... my nearly 5yr old fits like a dream in it, he likes it the best, but he is only 33lbs and i don't see him gaining 7 in the next year.

So Britax way to go updating your convertibles, now go work on your booster! ;)

To be honest i am glad they don't rate it down to 30
but that said if i had a 38lb 5 yo who was developmentally ready for a booster i would seriously consider making a parental decision to use it anyway. Although as a technician i would never recommend going against a manufactures instructions kwim?

Opps... hit the thank button instead of quote ;)

Yes, i guess if i was REALLY being hopeful they'd put a 5yr, 30lb restriction on it - but like THAT's going to happen! :p

I hate seeing boosters rated for 30 lbs because there are too many people that think they can put their 30 lb 2 yr olds in them. I see your point, I really do, but I really really hope that Britax keeps it at 40 lbs. There are already plenty of boosters that are rated to 30 lbs.

If I had my druthers, I'd go with 4y/30# as the minimum for a highback booster. Best practice? Probably not. Keep parents from doing what they want anyhow? Probably not. Livable minimums? I think so.

Since they *just* bumped their minimum weight requirement up from 30 to 40, I doubt they're going to bump it back down again.

The trouble with going with a weight only requirement is that people will put their 40 pound 2 year olds in it, but CAN'T put their 38 pound 6 year olds in it, which sort of misses the point.

Best to make an age and weight minimum...like 4 AND 30 pounds. I have a feeling it's kids under 40 pounds who would benefit most from the SG feature anyhow.

ITA with 4 and 30lbs. It's the gracos that tend to get used too young anyways (since their hbb is 3/30 and the lbb is 4/40).
