inexpensive infant seat Town and Country minivan?

Hi! I am back again requesting some help to find a good infant seat for our baby girl on the way. However, since this is our third and we're pretty much broke, I have some requirements. My babies are big so I need one with a decent weight limit, preferably 30+ weight and height limit. I also really need an inexpensive seat since my my babies grow out of the infant seats rather quickly. We have a town and country minivan so something with an easy install would be great! Thanks! :)

The cheapest 30+ lb. weight limit infant seat is the Safety 1st OnBoard 35. The base models are under $100, and though they don't have a great base, it's not awful to install. It goes to 35 lbs. and has the tallest shell on the market of any infant seat, as far as I know.

Hi, Ketchupqueen! I believe you helped me last time I was here as your screen name looks familiar. I was looking at the safety first on board 35 earlier today and found the price was reasonable. However, I only found them in the regal print. Which doesn't seem that bad, but I am having a girl. I wouldn't care for a convertible seat, but since I am going to be carrying this around for awhile, I don't want anything that screams boy, kwim? I don't have to correct people all day long. By any chance have you seen the print in person and could tell me if it is very boyish in your opinion? And would you mind clarifying what you mean when you say the base isn't good? Thanks again :)

There's a "good" version of the base, with a lockoff and nice adjuster and the "not great" version which is very basic, no lockoff and only 2 recline positions-- on or off. If the recline is too much you have to put it in, and use a rolled towel or pool noodle to adjust.

There are some girly versions of the seat, let me see if I can find any in the lower price range. :)

Okay, this site has a pink-pattern one on sale for under $100. :) (I'm not sure if that's the cheap or the nicer base.)

For about $50 more including shipping, you can get the OnBoard Air, which comes with the nice base too, in an even pinker pattern here.

I wouldn't worry too much about having a lockoff on the base with your van. The T&C has locking latchplates and it's really easy to install infant bases with those (I also have a T&C).

If you're going to be moving the base to other cars where a lock off would be helpful, it might be worth it to get the model that has the "nicer" base.

I was thinking more of the awful recline adjustment on the stripped-down version of the base. The "deluxe" base has a much much nicer recline mechanism.

That's true, I forgot about that. In that case I would probably try to swing for the better one with a T&C. It has crazy sloped seats.

Well, the recline does go crazy high on the 2 adjustment basic base. So crazy sloped might be perfect for it, lol. But, if that is overreclined, you can always put it back in and use a rolled towel or noodle to adjust the recline as needed. It's just an extra step compared to seats with an actual functional recline adjust. ;)
