ISO: Nearly Dead Seat for Cheap

You do not need to transport extra seats. If the kid is no longer riding with you when you leave the meeting place, you don't need to leave with a seat. Seriously, you can make it work. I know families that make do with ONE touriva and multiple children take the child. The sensible thing to do is sell any seats that DO NOT work in ALL situations and replace with ones that do. You do not work out of the home. There is NO reason to make a financial burden to have more seats. If I were in a tight tight situation I would sell one of mine since I only use my spare to transport someone else's child(ren). I would then get their seat. Just sayin.

Yes, I know you want to keep the radian, but it isn't cost effective. J is 3yo. Best practice is great, but not always possible.

Problem is that I can't drag the seats around 'cause they won't fit in my stupid, useless car.

Then how are the kids getting to the emergency providers? Aren't they riding in seats? If the seat is always with the child they are never w/o a seat. Yes it means reinstalling at pick up and drop off but you either teach them how to install or they aren't trusted to drive your kiddos and you drop them off and pick them back up in their primary seats and they go nowhere while with emergency care. It would be the same thing if your emergency care was a licensed center daycare, they wouldn't be driving around your kids.

There is also the option, though potentially "inconvienent" and possibly not workable depending on insurance, of switching vehicles when others have your child. I don't drive and when my mom used to come to take me to dr. appts or if we thought we might go out during her day trip she'd switch vehicles with dh in his work parking lot since she drives a standard sedan and I have 5 kids in seats.

I do this w/ my parents if they are going to have my kids. As long as both parties are insured, the vehicle is covered at the highest limits on the driver's policy. Dh takes my vehicle if he has both kids since his only seats 2, 1+driver. It may be inconvenient, but it is paid for.

Okay, I didn't know if it was an insurance issue (though I assumed not, unless a driver is specifically excluded on a vehicle). There you go a free option to consider :)

I'm not sure what you drive, but I'm confused by your assertion that a spare seat won't fit in your front passenger seat? I...can not picture this. Even if the seat is completely forward, there is still..room, that exists...?? We have a geo metro and a ford escort, and I could fiut any of our seats into the front passenger seat, even with it all the way up, even with a RFing seat behind it. So...I must admit to being very, very confused. I mean..the seat might not fit upright, as if it were to be used, but you can finagle it upside down or sideways or something.
AS to these weird plastic joints..thats annoying as heck...what model car is this? I need to put it on my "avoid" list, lol!

I am not sure I totally understand, but why not get a Maestro? Sears.com has them around $75. If you can find an online code then you can get it for less. They have free site to store shipping as well.

Gah, I would love to sell you my Marathon(s) that expire in 2012, esp since I'm in MA too and wouldn't have to ship... but my husband would KILL me!!!! I desperately want the new MA70 when it comes out.
