New britax seats

Thanks for the replies - has anyone had any luck selling used seats? We are gonna have to get another seat pretty soon, and in order to do so I will have to sell our blvd to fund it...I know I personally wouldnt buy a used seat, but am wondering if anyone else has? how much $ do you loose? ours is about 1 year old.

There's really nothing wrong with an educated, safety-conscious person selling a used seat. If the seat complies with CMVSS, has never been in a crash, and is free of flaws (eg. you'd put your own child in it without concern, knowing what you know) it could be a great deal for somebody who could not otherwise afford the seat. Especially with five years left--since you'll attract somebody coming out of an infant seat and have enough life left in the seat to get them to booster stage.
There's a rough formula for calculating what a seat is worth.. I don't know if I'm exact, but basically you take the price (say $300) and the number of years (5 of 6) and then divide by the total years 300/6=50 per year and multiply by the number of years left 50*5=250 and knock a bit off for the seat being used--anywhere from 10-20% works well.. so you could try listing the seat for $220-$225 and take $200ish for it, or even a bit higher. I really think you'll have some bites--I sold my year old Boulevard for $150 to a friend-of-friend.
