Here are some photos of the semi-custom Ford Econoline 350 full size van. It has a 2-2-2-3 configuration for 9 total seats. The first, second and third rows are tall captain's chairs. The fourth row is a medium size bench with non-adjustable head restraints. They are tall enough only for an average adult.

Lap and shoulder belts were present in the first row, the outboard seats in the fourth row and in the two captain's chairs behind the driver in the second and third rows. The other captain's chairs in those rows were essentally like "middle" seats because of the door on the other side and the aisle for rear access. These two chairs had only lap belts.

So, we were able to "properly" restrain 5 of our 6 passengers. The three kids sat in the seats behind the driver and more or less met the 5-step test. Our youngest had a "Doctor Booster" by Nania made in 2006. The adult in the front row and fourth row got a shoulder belt. One adult in the second row only had a lap belt. This was actually not bad, since it was a middle seat and there was nothing in front of them but the aisle between the front seats.

Our driver/tourguide is great, so it's been quite a safe ride overall so far!

Congrats to everyone who picked "5" and to Monzogary our winner!

LOL, what's with the Dodgers and Lakers headrests?

I'm glad everyone is at least fairly well restrained. Hope you're having a great time. Been to Petra yet?

Ehh, you should have harnessed your booster rider, and then you could have had all 6 restrained properly. But, I guess you have to do what you have to do when you don't have our US cars.

I had considered bringing my SafeGuard Go Hybrid, so even if there was no tether I'd have a backless booster. Still, I figured most any booster they provided would be reasonable enough and we were packing light!
