safely storing cargo in van

I'm trying to find the safest way to carry cargo in a mini van. I hate the idea of groceries, etc becoming projectiles in a crash.

Currently, most items can be put behind the 3rd row seat. I'll soon have to lug around a double stroller that will take up most of the space.

Any suggestions? What does everyone else do that has a van or suv?

depending on which minivan you have, there should be cargo tie down hooks on the floor and/or walls of the cargo area. the best way to hold down loose bags of groceries is with a cargo net, but those are not very strong for heavier projectiles like strollers. for more serious projectiles, you should use racheting tie-down straps.

If you've got something to strap to, ratcheting tie straps will be one of the best investments you can make. They'll also work for strapping stuff to the roof rack, if the situation warrants. And they're inexpensive.
