Backless vs high back booster

A new british study came out saying high back boosters are safer. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,594987,00.html I know we knew that already, but with that info, would you keep your child in a high back as long as they fit? Does it depend on where the child is seated? I currently have 10.5 yo in a backless in the middle seat. Sideways, she would just hit the outsides of her siblings' high back boosters. We also have side air bags for those on the sides.

I have been planning how to rearrange my van to put dd1 into a high back for vacation. Lately she's even been sitting in her sister's seat when she can because she says it's easier to buckle and more comfy.

Do you think I should put dd1 back into a high back until she no longer fits?

I would if she fits, is comfortable that way, wants to (which it sounds like she does) and if it would work in my vehicle. I wouldn't stress myself out over it or force her if she wasn't agreeable to it.

It involves putting dd3 in the radian in the middle of the third row. Dd3 can't buckle herself in the radian. (I put in the longer crotch strap for her and she was unsuccessful.) I can't reach a third row, middle ffing seat from the side of the van, so I actually have to climb into the backseat to buckle dd. I figured I could do that for vacation. Perhaps I should have dd sit in the radian in the house every day to work on doing and undoing the crotch buckle.

In the article, it mentions:

The watchdog called on manufacturers to phase out backless boosters before more stringent legal requirements for child seats are expected in 2012.

Is this in reference to changes in Britain or regulations in the US. If they are more stringent requirements in the US, does anyone know what changes we might see?
