Air travel w/ comfort sport?

For various reasons, I think it would be easier to fly with the Comfort sport rather than the Radian this time (one being that I won't have dh to help me and the CS is much lighter to carry). But I'm not sure I want to sacrifice the use of the tray table with ds (I will FF him on the plane). Does anyone know if that seat interferes with using the tray table on the plane? Thanks.

*just realized that if I take the CS I'll have to FF him in the car too, since he's over the RF weight limit. :(

I think I have to take the RN. I also have an EFTA I could try though. What would you do? Any tips to help me get through the airport with 2 kids and all their stuff? Dd will be using a RSTV.

I'd take the radian. Get a cheap luggage cart and strap the radian to it. You can probably strap 1-2 carry on bags on top of the radian if you leave it unfolded. Just use bungee cords. If you can get away with 1-2 carry ons and the radian on the luggage cart, it will give you one hand free to hold onto ds's hand and have dd hold onto the luggage cart handle with you or ds's other hand. Or you could throw ds on your back in a mei tai or ergo or something like that. It shouldn't be that bad with only 1 seat in the mix.

I did it with a 2 yo, 5 yo, radian, marathon, and a couple of carry ons a couple years ago. I had to use my double side by side stroller AND a luggage cart to get through the airport with 2 connections each way. It sucked, but was doable.

I would probably strap the Radian to a folding cart or stroller and either have DS ride in it or pile your other stuff on it.

When I travel with both kids on my own I have DD pull her own little rolling suitcase that has the dvd player, her leapster, snacks & coloring books. I strap DS's Uptown to our umbrella stroller and DS rides in it, DD's Safeguard Go in the travel bag hangs from the stroller handle & I carry my purse & diaper tote or backpack with the rest of the stuff we'll need for the flight. I only take essentials on the plane and take advantage of curbside checking if I don't have someone that can come inside with me and help while I get checked in. Carrying everything onto the plane is probably the trickiest, DS needs to walk on his own so I can carry everything else (I'm sure he'd do better now, he wasn't even 2 last time we flew without DH).

I can't strap the RN to the stroller - it won't fit. The CS fits beautifully though - just the way the backs of the seats are designed differently.

The luggage carts are a good idea, I forgot about those. I may look into that. If I find that the CS will work better I will probably just FF him in the car. We aren't doing much driving out there. He's ridden FF on occasion before now. He's 33 months and 33 pounds.

We'll figure it out! Thanks for the suggestions.

I think I'd try to get two straps for the Radian so I could carry it like a backpack and have both hands free. Then I would try to take as little carry-on as possible, maybe just a diaper bag/purse and something that your DD can roll-on. The whole luggage cart/stroller scenario sounds good but it takes forever to assemble/disassemble at security and then there is the issue of getting everything down the aisle at the end. I think the Radian as backpack is the easiest way to accomplish that.

But I'll be honest I only have one kid right now, so I'm just speculating what I would try not speaking from experience.
