My ds just turned 2 and weighs 34 pounds clothed but without shoes (and he doesn't wear shoes in the car either). I am RF in a TF which I bought for him specifically to RF him longer than 30 pounds. When I purchased it I needed it and the 40/45 pounds RF seats were not yet available. I am waiting for that last pound which could take a while but is it safe to FF him then? I don't think I can swing another new seat right now but want him to be safe. Is making it to 2 RF good? My others all had to FF at 12 months because there were no other options for 30 pounders at that point but I agree and support ERF now that I can do it.

I am torn...

If you cannot afford another seat to rear face him longer, then turn him when he hits 35 pounds and know that you have done the best you can. :) Make sure he's tethered, and it's 12 months longer than your other kids, and 12 or more months longer than the population in general.

If you could sell the TF and help fund a longer lasting seat (the Evenflo Momentum is $200, the Radian 65 is $200, the Graco My Ride is on sale with a purple cover at Walmart for $81 http://www.walmart.com/ip/Graco-MyR...0000003260330&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=11037459, the Safety 1st Complete Air is $180) that would be fantastic. But if you cannot, then you've done the best you can, which is all we can ask of parents. :)

This thread is in the Canadian and International Forum, though maybe it was moved after you posted? The Momentum isn't yet available here (though according to Evenflo should be available very soon) and the prices for the other seats listed are not accurate for Canadians. The Radian 65 is generally 269 when not on sale, the MyRide is 194-220 I believe, and the complete air is 260+. Just wanted to clarify for the OP.

Thank you. I had misseen where it was and thought it was in the General Car Seat forum.

OP, disregard what I said about what seats to buy. The advice stands, but not the actual prices and seats.
