TFP orange strap...

We are talking about the TFP (recent to Canada) on the Canadian forum and the short length of the orange pigtail strap. On our seats it is mounted to the outside of the seat and is so short that it causes the UAS strap to bunch up/pull away from the lock-off. Do the American seats also have this issue? Here are a couple pictures...

I don't believe so. I think ours is more down in the crack where the kid's bum would be? I think? I don't have it with me, otherwise I'd check, but I think it's more towards the FF lock offs.

Ah, here's a picture I had in Photobucket. It's definately not where yours is...

Honestly? I'd probably cut it off. I mean, it's only mounted onto the car seat because it's required to be connected to the seat somehow. I know I disconnected the LATCH strap from my GN.

ETA: Here's a post from a hipmaman, a Canadian member, from the Naked Car Seat Thread. You can see that her orange strap (I'm just assuming this is her seat, I really have no idea) is in the same spot as mine. Perhaps it's just the TFP's? They must have changed it sometime.

Yep, mine is the orange one, and I had the same bunching issue.

Or, I should say it WAS the orange one. I cut it off. I was in a big hurry one day to install it in an unfamiliar vehicle and could NOT keep the damn strap from bunching because of it, so off it went.

ETA: Oh, and mine is a Premier and I'm in the US.

I just got my tfp yesterday and that orange strap is a problem. what is the purpose of the strap anyway.

I just got off the phone with the company and he said the only purpose that strap serves is to keep people from loosing the latch straps. I asked about the bunching up and he said they tested and it was fine. Passed all of the tests.

Yep, our TFP has the same issue. The tech that installed our seat said not to cut it off because it might void the warranty. I have no idea if that is true. I do know one person on the forums unstitched the stitching on the strap rather than cutting it so they could always sew it back together if they needed it to appear they hadn't changed anything with the seat.
