Combi Shuttle for baby under 4 lbs?

Someone posted on another board looking for a seat that would work for her preemie. Problem is her preemie is being released at less than 4 lbs. The Keyfit and Onboard are rated from 4 lbs. It looks like the Combi Shuttle 33 is rated from birth but am just not sure how it will fit a less than 4 lb baby.

Does anyone have experience with this seat? I'm not sure baby will pass the car seat test but mom has to have a seat to at least try the car seat test.

In my class I got a 4 pound doll and the Britax Companion with the low birth weight foam insert actually fit the doll better than the Keyfit. You might look into that one.

I'd call Safety 1st and see if Dorel would ok a slightly under 4 pounder in the Onboard 35. All that infant and newborn padding, and the innermost crotch strap, it should fit nearly anyone allowed to come home.

But the companion is discontinued. Britax replaced it with the chaperone:)

And what Wendy said:) I would probably go with a 4 pound onboard as from all I have seen and heard on it, it fits itty bitties extremely well.

I believe I heard that when asked Combi was okay with shoulders slightly below the bottom slots in the Shuttle with preemies. You might call them and ask about that. (Might have to go up the chain a bit to get a "real" answer not a canned one.) But there would still be the issue of "would it tighten enough" and "would it position the baby well."

Sorry. I'm pretty sure it must have been the Chaperone. It was brand new with the tags.
