Avenue

Thanks to everyone who input on my various other threads in my search for a new seat.

Got the Avenue --- DD fits SOOOO much better than in the store. I can't believe how different it is.

the last pic is the one from the store to compare.

However -- I must say, I didn't like the install. I am keeping th seat because the price is right. But -- you have to lift the cushion at the front to get to the LATCH --- but then there is absolutely no way to hook the elastic back on. I had to just shove the cushion back down in the space. The harness adjuster is hard to get t also -- it's pushed into the seat bacl. Also the belt path for the latch is really bad --- even with the cushion pulled back and pulling in the direction of the path --- it's situated at a really odd angle and it doesn't pull smooth. The latch belt basically comes out from the seat, to the hole for the seat, then doubles back toward the carseat again ,so it's pulling in an L angle and not smooth. I got the seat in, but I may try a seatbelt install tomorrow just to see if it's any better or easier.

Also -- anyone know where the TT stores when rearfacing? the instructions said to put it under the seat ... but I couldn't find anywhere to hook it to keep it there?

I find it easy to install with a seatbelt. I actually lost the latch strap after I separated it from the seat. I use a pool noodle pyramid for Matthew in my car, it's just too upright without. That might help your install.

She looks good in it!

Okay, first, do not detach the cover from the front of the seat. Just pull it off the side to install, then stick it back.

For the latch strap, I'm not exactly sure what you are doing with it. You have to weedle it through those plastic harness hole covers so that the latch strap lays flat in the rfing belt path, in front of the crotch strap. (BTW: the crotch strap must be in the 1st or second slot for rfing. The 3rd is for ffing only.) So, the latch strap should lay flat in front of the crotch strap, just like the scenera or most any other car seat.

I did run it thru the harness holes and it is laing flat. But the holes are so far back on the seat that when it latches ... it runs from the vehicle seat then back to the hole, thru the hole then the strap kind of arcs back toward the direction of the vehicle seat due to the arc of the seat. it's hard to explain. It's "right" it's just the design

Wow, she has a lot of growing room in that seat! I've never even seen an Avenue before but I guess that's because we don't have a Kmart. The shell is a lot taller than I expected though!

The easiest way I've found to tighten my Uptown (which is pretty much the same seat as the Avenue) is to pull the harness tight at the back of the seat and then pull the adjuster strap.

For a $70 workhorse, I adore the Avenue. It will actually get lots of kids to 35# RFing and 40# FFing, it installs in most cars, and it's got decent padding. It's not a really "fun" seat, but for the average parent who isn't into carseats, it's something I recommend often.

I LOVE my Avenue. I have it installed RF with the seatbelt and a pyramid of pool noodles. I still get about a 30-35degree angle with the pyramid of pool noodles. The great thing about the pool noodles is that it makes it easy to reach the harness adjuster. I did not remove the cover when installing the seat. I would recommend you install your Avenue with seatbelt and a pyramid of pool noodles, you will like it a lot more once you do that:)
I put the tether where they tell you to put the LATCH clips when not using LATCH.
