Is the "traveling toddler" harmful to latch?

Ok, these things look like a clever idea, but I'm a bit leery of using latch to attach it. The latch and tether will then constantly be supporting the weight of the child and the car seat, and from a bit of a different angle than is used for installation in a car.

Does anyone else worry that it could damage the latch or tether and compromise it's ability to keep a car seat in place properly in an accident? Other than in an accident, it seems the pressure would be much less on the latch/tether when it is in a car compared to this type of use.
