A small victory, but a victory nonetheless.

CA juvenile court judge orders father to use booster seats for 8 and 10 year old children until such a time as they can pass the 5 step test.

Sorry, no link. Personal knowledge of a closed court hearing.

 Awesome. (California law does provide that the seatbelt must be used PROPERLY for all occupants. So this is a great reinforcement of that interpretation, which is not always made.)

At first I read "Complete Air juvenile court". That story would be "Safety 1st orders father to use their products", lol.

I've always wondered about that.

I assume that the law's interpretation of "properly" means, like, actually wearing it. As in, one person per belt, buckled, not sitting on top of the belt, not having it under arms/behind back. I've always thought it was a bit of a stretch to assume that the law means "passes 5-step test." There are even adults who don't pass the 5-step test. (*cough* me in center of the Pilot *cough*)

But I do find it very interesting made that ruling.

What a bummer that it was not publicized, it would be a nice example for others.

I think it if was publicized, there would be outrage. Kids over the minimum state law shouldn't be forced to sit in "baby" seats, you know? I know people here still have a cow over needing to put their 7 year olds in backless boosters.
