I got a homemade laundry soap recipe from this site, and now I'm inspired to start line-drying our clothes.

Thanks for posting that link, Jenny! I browsed it and want to look at it more when I have more time. We use mostly baking soda or vinegar/water for household cleaning. I'd love to use a more natural laundry detergent, too. I have friend who have made their own beer shampoo (!) but I don't think DH would take too kindly to beer going down the drain - LOL...

I haven't tried anything else yet, I was originally looking for a household spray cleaner recipe, haven't found it yet because I got so absorbed in the rest of that website!
The laundry soap is cooling/gelling as I type. I'll be able to use it tomorrow afternoon/evening. I used Fels Naptha soap, it said you could use Ivory or any soap, really. I'd rather use an all-natural soap next time, though.
I'd love to try a beer shampoo, but my dh would be the same as yours--upset about good beer going down the drain.

I remember being told that beer is a good conditioner for your hair, but I just can't bring myself to do it. I hate the smell of beer (it makes me gag) and thus can't fathom using it to cleanse any part of me. Ugh.
