What she actually said was 'to the second year of life' which is not 2..it's 12 months and 1 day ;)

Furthermore, the AAP says nothing of the sort. It says to keep your children rear facing as long as possible and recommends seats be designed to keep children rear facing to the FOURTH, not the second birthday.

Her advice about the 45 degree angle is ridiculous. A four year old, or a two year old, or a 12-month-and-1-day old, does not need to have his airway protected, any more than he would in a forward facing seat. Such absurd misinformation.

When a child outgrows the infant seat, the correct choice is a rear facing convertible, not a forward facing restraint.

Fourthly, I REALLY hate when people, women in particular, talk in that valley-girl, questioning style. The voice should only go up at the end of a sentence to indicate the presence of a question. Using it for factual statements makes a person sound unsure, uneducated, and untrustworthy. So I sort of wanted to shake her by the end of her very badly done clip.

Wow, the manager of national traffic safety AAA!! I bet she knows her stuff, right? Wrong. How pathetic to hold that job title and know less than average parents who simply care enough to research and understand what is best for their children.
