I hae to say thank you to all of you here. I am a pretty safe person to begin with, but have learned TONS here. Thanks to all of you, last night my kids were all properly and safely restrained (DS(4.5) center in Radian, DD(7) in Confidence Booster and DS(10) in backless booster that I hauled out of the trunk and made him sit in when I saw him slumping in his belt as he was falling asleep) and a car free of projectiles, when we hit black ice on our way home from out of town. I knew something was up when I noticed the oncoming traffic all had their hazzards on and were really slow, so I told DH to ease off, and sure enough we came upon two cars in the ditch. DH slowed up even more, crawling along now when we came upon two cars that had collided and were shoved up against the barrier. DH moved over to the other lane, but just as we were about to pass the accident, another car had come up really fast behind, and was slamming on its brakes. It was kind of surreal to be looking out my passenger window and seeing this car turning around and sliding along, brakes squealing - and nothing we could do really except keep going. We were just ahead by a couple of feet, and just kept going. We could even hear all the people at the side of the road (behind the barrier thank god) screaming. We pretty much just kept going - we were in the middle of nowhere, and just crawled along, passing all these cars in the ditch - it was a nightmare. So thanks to all here - I at least know that we were as safe as we could be, but am sooo thankful that our safety wasn't put to the test.
