Any opinons on Recaro Start Plus for special needs?

I am wondering what people that have seen this seat think of it and how usefull it will be for my son. He is 10 and about 75 pounds, 56 inches tall. He has some minor special needs so he does not need a lot of extra padding, but he does need the head rest and idealy the 5 pt harness. Any other options that might work? We would be paying out of pocket so something cheaper would be good too but it seams like all the ones with point harnesses are expensive. I was also thinking of one of the Recaro Pro boosters since they have such a high height limit (67 inches tall if I am reading there website right). Has anyone compared the two to see which one has a taller back?

Thanks,

Jessica.

The Start Plus' 5 pt harness is only for positioning, not restraint. You still use the vehicle seat belt over top. If you're wanting something that will harness a while longer and make a tall BPB, the Britax Frontier 85 (on sale) might work for you.

If you're ok w/ just a positioning harness, I believe some of the EZon products can be used w/ boosters; then you could pick the booster that works best for your DS.

Thanks, He was in a Huskey until about a year ago when he was dxed with scoliosis. I got kind of scared of the harness straps pushing into his shoulders so we took him out of it. He is in a backless booster right now and its not going so well. He realy needs something more.

Are there any boosters that go beyond 60 inches? It also looks like there is a mistake on the Ricaro website and the Recaro Pro booster goes to 61 inches and not 67 like I thought. I think a high back booster would work for him if there is one with a high height limit.

Thanks,

Jessica.

How severe is his scoliosis and what are his long-term curvature expectations?

What treatments is he receiving that may need to be factored into a seating solution for him (IE; surgeries, braces, ambulatory needs)
