Air travel with older kid in harness/luggage cart

Well, it does have some SIP, in that it holds the child in place better than a booster. ;) You can also sit them in the middle, providing they fit by height, etc.

Anyway, 'twas just a thought. :)

Oh I didn't mean to sound so derisive of your suggestion, if I did. I appreciate the try! It certainly hadn't occurred to me. I would be so worried to get there, and see the car and it not have headrests high enough or something. And I'm probably somewhat uncomfortable with the vest simply b/c I'm so unfamiliar with it. If there was going to be less driving, I think I'd be more apt to consider it. I don't relish the thought of lugging around a FR85 for a kid who's technically old enough be in a booster generally. If he was smaller it wouldn't be an issue. He'd still fit in some smaller seat, lol.

FWIW, I had the same concern about the vest, about the lack of SIP. I am still getting used to the idea of it and her having no shell around her, but the thought of bringing two car seats (for our two kids) is definitely pushing me to consider the vest. :) So I don't think you're alone in your concern or surprise by the whole idea. I was really surprised a vest like that could be safe and crash test well. HTH ;)

Best wishes for a good trip!
