Graco SafeSeat 2 (toddler seat)

What is the weight limit on this seat?

I have seen 40 lbs. on Graco's website, but have heard on carseat lists that it goes to 50 lbs.

It doesn't seem worth it for 40 lbs., but might be a good alternative for my friend's crazy baby if it goes to 50 lbs.

(-:

Anyone have this seat, use it, and really like it?? What do you like about it and what does your child like about it?

thanks!

The weight limit is currently 40 pounds, but there is a lot of talk about a 50 pound version that might be released sometime soon. That 50-pound version is NOT yet out, though.

I have the seat currently in my 2005 sequoia, but unfortunately it is going to retire because my son has reached the 40lb limit. The other issue with the seat is that it can't RF. It is a nice seat and very easy to install. It is big, but I don't think it is any bigger than some of the other seats on the market.

I really liked this seat in the store! I LOVE the wings, it looks so safe. I tried my son out in it about a month ago at Target and he had a good 1.5-2 inches until his shoulders would be at the top slots. So I am thinking it has about 17 inch slots! :) Just wish it had a higher weight limit!!! My son is already 38 lbs, so 40 lb weight limit is not good enough. If it gets a 50 weight limit I would seriously consider buying it as a spare. I actually like how big/bulky it is. But then I love our Regent, and think the hugeness is the best part which is what most people complain about. I am weird.. :p

Maybe the slots are higher than 17'' now that I think about it. How tall are the Marathon's top slots(I was thinking they were 17''??)??? I tried my son out in a Marathon on the same day as the SafeSeat2 and he had WAY more room in the SS2 than the MA. He also had a smidge more shoulder room in the SS2, though he still was cramped (his shoulders do not fit well at all into the MA...he has very broad shoulders). I have pictures on my cell phone for the comparisons, I need to find out how to get them on my computer. I may go to Target again and take new pictures with my digital camera.
