Car seats for kids with Ostomies

Without getting into too much detail, there's a small chance my 4 year old will be requiring surgery that will also include an ostomy for awhile. I'm pretty sure it will be a colostomy, but I'm not 100% sure yet.

He is FF in a radian, weighs 37ish pounds on a good day.

If anyone has any experience dealing with car seats and ostomies? Do the straps even get in the way? Maybe they don't, I'm not sure. Is it safe to use a seat with a child with one? Or are there other options?

I might be looking too far in the future, but would like to know at least a bit!

Each kid's ostomy is going to be in a different place so there's not one sure fire thing that works for everyone. My son's ostomy is through his appendix and we put stuff in (irrigation) so it has a tube instead of a bag. So it's pretty darned low and a little different not having a bag. His GJ tube is placed higher up on the other side. Different car seats fit each one differently. So I'd figure out what seats would be safe options for his height and weight and then try them out if you can. Our hospital has a safety program that will get a tech to fit the kid for a seat based on individual SNs. You could see if there's something like that at the children's hospital nearest you if it ends up happening. They were awesome to work with and had a ton of stuff on hand to try out.
