Advocate vs. Radian XTSL RF on plane?

I am travelling by plane with my 15 month old next month. I would love to rear face my Advocate, but wondering if it will fit? Anyone else tried this? If it won't fit rear facing, maybe I should just bring the Radian XTSL and FF. We are flying American(coach).

I know people have used the MA rf'ing on planes and just installed it more upright. I think the problem you would have is the side cushions. They make the seat much wider on the side and I'm not sure if that would make it too wide for where the side of the plane is.

Radian almost definitely won't fit rf'ing, but it is great ff'ing on the plane. If you know that it will fit rf'ing in the vehicle you'll have at the other end, I'd likely just take the radian with you - just make sure to pack the boot in your carry-on luggage.

Thanks! I wondered about those side cushions too... I can't imagine it fitting ff or rf?! Yet it says it is FAA approved. Haven't seen any posts of anyone travelling with one.
