Something comparable to a city select?

I have never liked baby jogger, I just couldn't love them but this stroller is soooo calling my name. At least it was anyways until the sales lady told me that to get everything I would need to use it as a double it would run me around $720:( OMG, it's nice but not that nice. I mean seriously, it doesn't even have winter boots or headrests or changeable inserts.

So I'm looking for something comparable but not in that price range. I like the whole chassis with interchangeable seats thing but I wasn't loving the whole contours double thing with the massive chassis that doesn't fold with the seats on it. Am I just dreaming that something like this exists in my price range?

There is the Uppa baby with the rumble seat, but it runs about the same price as far as a single/dubble option stroller that is about the same price as all of them there is a new britax one comming out that is said to start at about 499 but don't know when it is going to hit the market. I am also in love with the City Select but DH would have a fit if I got another stroller!

right now i have the peg perego aria twin - very compact but wide and the wheels are pretty crappy. it works with my 20lb twins, but even in parking lots it's not great. we have this model

but the new ones have the front wheels in-set

i would totally pay the extra for that as it will make doorways way easier.

we also have our "big stroller" which is the graco quattro tour duo. i really like it but it is kind of huge and falling apart. we plan to run it into the ground though and possibly buy a second when it's dead. we can use it for our babies or our older kids (3 and 4) or even with the 3 year old in the front and the babies in the back together.

here's my 3 kids in it

our 3rd seat is the eddi bauer tandem seat. it is so compact and folds up like an umbrella stroller but it's about as sturdy as an umprella stroller. it has small wheels like the aria and the front seat does not recline at all.

if anyone finds a magical solution (besides travelling back in time to buy one $700 stroller instead of 3 $200 strollers) i would be glad to hear it.

Why have you never liked Baby Jogger strollers? Are you talking about the actually BRAND name or just a typical jogging stroller?

What about a Baby Jogger City Mini Double? Extremely popular stroller, and will be the last double you will need.

I don't know what it is but I just look at them and it's like ehh. I can't tell you why I just don't feel the love for any of their strollers and really I didn't like the city select until she starting showing me all the features. It does absolutely everything I want but at that price I could buy dh a new car:rolleyes:

Honestly, I'm just not a jogger person because of the blahhness of them. It's like they're all boring and yucky colors with the same duffel bag material and no cupholders. (Sue me, I like cupholders) And strangely enough this is why I can't feel the love for the keyfit either, just because I think the covers are ugly. I think if the city select came in a pretty print with a plaid or some animals I could cough up the money but as it is I just can't do it.

Yeah, the blahness does get a bit old, huh? The fabric is pretty industrial feeling as well.

Baby Jogger only makes a few actual jogging strollers. You mentioned you didn't like "joggers" so I didn't know if I should clarify that or not. The one I was recommending is definitely not for jogging.

They do lack the nice features a big Graco has, like the HUGE basket, cup holders, and parent tray :( That was a hard change for me as well.

The good thing though is that that fabric is really high quality and is easy to keep clean. You can also add a tray for you and for your kids that include a cup holder as well. Of course, that will cost you more money.

I really can't think of anything doing what you want for a cheaper price. A lot of the strollers that have combination seats like that have lower seats backs and don't accommodate older children very well.

Good luck with your search, and CONGRATS! :)

Ok, so iyho is it worth it to shell out the money for a city select or should I just get something like a contours double or used duette. I really like having two independent seats that are interchangeable and I can use with an infant seat. That's my one big hang up with alot of strollers is that you can only use them one way if you have carseat or the bigger kid is uncomfy in a tiny seat with no canopy.

I am actually waiting for this to ship to me now, I did a ton of research, theres not really anything else out there, I know its ugly

There is a brand called icandy that makes ones like it, but they tend to be more, although they were supposed to come out with a lower model. They are only available in specialty stores though.

I went with the city select because it takes my carseat unlike the icandys

After TONS of research I just bought a city select. I wasn't able to find anything that met my needs so I'm not much help... I needed something that could be a single or double for two toddlers. I was going to get a Phil & Teds, but their second seat didn't go high enough in weight. I am not really in love with the "look" of it, but gave in since it met my needs. I was lucky enough to get a used one off a friend so I saved some $$. Good luck in your search!
Oh & I currently have a Kolcraft Countours Tandem and it isn't all bad, but it is a beast!
