My kids in "regular" seats-PIC HEAVY

As in non car seat nerd seats that the general public would buy :)

I am doing a nearby firehouse open house on Saturday for Safekids. I picked up all the stuff from Safekids and got some demo seats to use. They are all old seats, just used for demonstrations (except the Titan)

So of course I had to try my kids in them cause I'm a nerd

First, Joey in an old school 20 lb 2002 snugride. Good thing I never got one for him! He turned 3 months a few days ago.

Then some Evenflo doohickie I don't know the name of. Medallion maybe? It is from 05 so not even expired(Except aren't they 5 years so maybe it's just expired). I actually was kinda impressed with this for a 40 lb seat. Evelyn had *just* outgrown it by height. Sophia was right at the 2nd to top slots so she still had an inch or so and if she were 2 lbs lighter appears to fit rear facing (30 lb limit). They both seemed to have room above their head(shell wise)

Sophia (3y2m, 38" 32 lbs)

Evelyn (4y9m, 43", 33 lbs)

(the harness is weird. I think someone broke it cause it doesn't even out anymore)

Then the Titan 50 (3/10 DOM). I was not impressed with it. Despite being an Evenflo as well, it actually had shorter top slots than the other old seat despite having a 50 lb limit. Evelyn just looked ridiculous in it even though she is only 33 lbs. Sophia looked huge too. Sophia was right at the top slots (despite being 2nd to top on the other seat) and Evelyn was way over.

Yellow ring is where the top slot is

Yellow ring again. She is leaning forward. She's about 1-1 1/2" above it

I've never tried them in a Titan, but yeah, not impressed for a 50 lb seat. Both kids have way more room (and could still RF had it had a higher weight limit) in the old piece of crap 40 lb seat made by the same company. My kids are not big by any means. While Evelyn is tall she isn't *that* tall and Sophia is like 45% for height and weight for her age.

I actually liked the seat for Joey. He fit well in it, even though his look says otherwise! He was on the 2nd from the bottom slots and he seemed cozy

I know it would change in the car, but yeah, the old Evenflo one had a good chunk more room

There also is a TB but everyone sees pics of that!

The older Evenflo I think is a Vanguard 5. THat's actually the predecessor to the Titan. Interesting that they shrunk the shell and the top slots when they made the Titan. I know one of the families I worked for had one, and hated the adjuster. It was their secondary seat, and they replaced it with a Roundabout (same as their primary).

The adjuster is on crack. I couldn't figure it out. You have to like pull this yellow ribbon thingy and then pull up on the harness at the same time, but it doesn't always release and then the yellow thingy gets stuck out meaning the straps don't lock. LOL. It took me a while to figure it out. It might be worse cause the seat has probably been abused though.

But yeah, wouldn't want it as a primary seat!

keyfit for comparison. I had asked and was told that the new 22 pound/29 inch snugrides weren't much if any taller than the older 20 pound versions.

My 7 year old outgrew the snugride at around 6 months, my 4.5 year old under 4 months. I think Heather had the same pattern as I think it was in some of her install videos.

That evenflo seat kinda looks like my going to expire in about 8 months Evenflo Titan (IV, I think) I can't remember, its been so long since I've used it. Its sitting in my garage as a spare seat in case anyone I know ever needs to put a seat in my car and doesn't want to uninstall theirs.
