Question fit check please

:) 4 yr old DD rides harnessed in Maestro but due to circumstances I recently had to put her boostered in her prior seat for a day, Dorel Commuter/Ventura, which she outgrew harnessed. I know the reviews I read on here said it was a horrible booster, but it was my only option at the time. Truthfully though, I didn't think it was that bad of a fit. So -- can you check me just to satisfy my curiousity and in case the need would arise again?

The lap belt looks a tad high and the shoulder belt is way to far off her shoulder (although she looks like she's leaning away from it, it still doesn't look good).....I wouldn't be comfortable with that fit on my kid:twocents:

No, it's not a good fit. :(

It's a lap belt; you want to see it down on the upper hips/thighs - especially in a child that age who doesn't have much for hip bones to hold it in place. The shoulder belt is off to the side over the ball of her shoulder.

does anyone have a pic of an example of a good booster fit? I'm more of a visual person. thanks

How big is she? Maybe you can find a high back turbo booster on sale so that if the event arises again that she needs to be boostered, you will have one on hand that works well for smaller kids.

Good idea .. I think I may do that. She is 43" and hovers right around 40 lbs, just turned 4.

Honestly, for a just-turned-4yo, I'd buy another Maestro for a secondary seat. You can use it for booster training, but you'd still have the harness available.

And this is my daughter in a Turbo last year. I think it's a good fit: belt is flat across thighs and shoulder belt is crossing between neck and arm.

After looking - I was just thinking that ... seems the Tubo Booster is still going to run me around $50. If I were going to use just a HBB -- would Turbobooster be your best / only recommendation?

For a child that size, a Turbo or Recaro Vivo would be my first choices (or a Clek Oobr, but if you don't want to do $70 for the Maestro, you won't want to do $200+ for the Oobr -- I wouldn't either for a secondary seat!). Probably the Turbo because the Vivo is hard to find.

If she is consistently over 40#, the Britax ParkwaySG would work, but it's also spendy.

My daughter is about 48" and 52# in that photo. The Turbo is on the third of six height adjustments.

Okay, I didn't even think of another maestro, just the very seldom caught in a tough spot needing a booster thing. But, here is my 3 year old, 36 pounds dressed, 37+ inch ds in the turbo, too, just so you can see fit on a smaller booster rider.

NOTE! THis is not best practice, as this child should as least still be harnessed until 4 years AND 40 pounds, and he is still rear facing, anyway;)

Another maestro would be a better choice for a 4 year old.

Ok -- after some more thought .. I am not getting another Maestro because it will really get seldom use. Makes more sense to put the money into a decent HBB that will evenually become her full time HBB after she outgrows the Maestro. So -- I think I am looking at the Graco Turbobooster or Recarco Vivo. I Saw a Vivo or Vivio Lite at Big Lots tonight. So .. what are your thoughts on one vs. the other ... or something else?
(not sure it will matter, but here are the current stats: 4 yr old DD & 23 month old DD. 4 yr old is harnessed in Maestro in all vehicles, 23 month old is RF in Evenflo Titan in all vehicles. Titan's expire end on 2010 at which time plan for DD #2 to move to the Dorel Ventura/commuter harnessed. Hope to get her to around 4 in those, then move her to the Maestro's, at which point DD #1 can go to HBB's. I keep seats in my Sienna, Hubby's Silverado and mom's Equinox)
