have a ? about out growing seats

How do you know when they out grow height wise. Do you think both my kids will make it another year rear facing in these seats. I know the have to have an 1in of car seat at the top. Here are some pics. My boy is 2 (3 in June) and my daughter is 1 (2 in June)

They outgrow when they have less than 1" of HARD SHELL above their head, when their shoulders are at or above the highest slot that is allowed for RF in the seat &/or when they max out the RF weight limit.

I think your kiddos should have a good 6-15 months left RF. It just all depends on growth spurts.

Super cute kids BTW.

So I believe there is 4 slots on the britax marathon both my kids are on the second so there are two left. Is there a slot that doesn't allow rear facing like the top slot?

Sad for me to say as a CPST, but since I have never owned a MA & haven't played w/ one for a while I'm not totally sure. I'm pretty sure you can.

I'm asking another CPST who owns a MA right now.

ETA: The response I got.

Yes you can RF on the top slot, but by the time they hit the top slot the kiddos head is likely to be at that 1" rule so would likely need to go FF at that point.

Does that make sense?

Not technically. No slots are excluded from rear facing use. however, it's rare for a child to still have shell above his head by even the third slot. They'll outgrow it rf by height long before their shoulders reach the fourth slot.

Yep that makes sense thanks :)

I knew that they would out grow it rear facing in height by the time they got to the top slot I just wanted to make sure it was ok to use all slots as rear facing :)
