Guess the car seat

My friend Jen has a 5 month old I've been watching. We were talking about car seats because he's getting smushed in his Chaperone and she hates it anyway (he's a huge 20lbs). So we were talking convertibles. Her boyfriend and her mom both have SS1s that he has plenty of room in, and she mentioned her boyfriend's mom has a car seat she got from a friend and it's a convertible.

Jen: "I went over there to help her put it in and it just looked weird to me. It looks like a chair. It's blue, kind of like a car interior, all fuzzy. And the seatbelt wouldn't fit through it, it was about 4 inches too short. We were using the right belt path, it was clearly marked. I don't know. But I won't let her use it because I don't know what the hell it is and it doesn't fit anyway."

Lady drives a Toyota Camry. I've never heard of a seatbelt not fitting. And that blue sounds like an older seat. Same with the boxy "chair" look.

So what do ya think it is? I made her promise to take a pic of it for me.

And yes it's being cut up and tossed.

I say she is using it rear facing through the front facing belt path, hence why the seat belt is too short. I say is it aa combo seat of some sort.

Maybe a Sit n Stroll?

That was my first thought, but Jen was a nanny too in nursing school and installed a lot of seats, including a SitNStroll she *hated* so I know she would recognize that. Most of the seats her "families" used were Britax but I know she'd recognize a CS or a Scenera...common ones, you know? She was at a loss on this one. She couldn't tell me a brand or anything.

I'm wondering if it's one of those old boxy shaped Century seats? She said it had a harness though, no T-shield.

And I'm still stumped by the seat belt being too short.

The old Centuries came in 3 styles - OHS, t-shield, and 5 point. And the beltpath went over the seat, like a baseless infant seat.

My only other thought was a Super Elite or Husky, but she'd recognize a ff-only seat, right? (both had blue covers)

I was thinking SE or Husky too, and not realizing it's not a convertible? But if she's familiar with Britax I guess that rules that out.

You have to find out what this seat is so we can all know. :D

Hmmm...she's used to RAs and MAs, I'm not sure if she's ever messed with a Regent so maybe it's possible? She's pretty good about reading instructions/labeling when it comes to car seats (she always has me check stuff and I've never found anything major wrong) but no one is immune to mistakes, including me. :)

Apparently her MILs friend gave it to her, and had used it for foster kids, and the youngest kid is 4 years old. The friend is the original owner but Jen didn't ask WHEN it was bought.

I'm curious too. I'm going to text her and tell her to get a pic, lol.

I assumed Husky or SE at first thought. Dh always referred to it as a lazy boy, it came in a fuzzy-ish blue, and the seatbelt really can be too short to install a beast that size.
