New vs old Frontier

I had read in one post that the new Frontier has a wider harness slot distance than the old one. I'm wondering if anyone else has measured the difference. DS's straps on his new Frontier seem closer together than on the old one. I need to measure for sure. Even more surprising, DS has slight petechiae where the straps on the new one sit. I'm wondering if this is from the new seat or the old one. DS did throw a temper in his old seat the other day so I guess they could be from him fighting against the straps... but I did notice the new Frontier straps rubbing into his neck yesterday. I didn't notice the marks on his body until after he had been in the 85. I would be surprised if they moved the harness straps closer together. It doesn't look comfy right now though and DS is only 4 years old. When DH gets home tonight I'm going to measure both seats.

Okay... so my theory is wrong. The distance btwn the strap slots appears to be the same. From the inside of one slot to the inside of the other I get a measurement btwn 2 5/8 inches and 2 3/4 inches for both seats. The measurements on the cover are the same too. I wonder why it looks like it fits DS so differently. I'll have to take pics sometime.

I have both seats and got 3 1/8" between the actual straps in the FR85 and 3" between the original Frontier straps. So to me, it looks like the FR85 actually had a smidge more room between the straps? DS hasn't complained about either seat's straps ever.

Interesting. When I did my measurements, I did them from under the cover... the harness slots in the plastic and then I also measured the harness slots on the cover. I figured if I just measured the strap distance that that could change depending upon how the straps are pulled.
