Booster/Harness seat and Toyota 4Runner

Hi,
I'm searching for a booster seat w/ a 5 pt. harness for my 2 1/2. We've bought
2 different Eddie Bauer's and tried a Graco and none of them would secure tightly w/ the LATCH system. They would move at least 6 inches left to right after tightening them as much as possible. ToysRUs tried and they said it
was the angle of our seats and the angle of the base of the booster seats.
We have a Britax Roundabout and it fits perfect, I love it! But I need to put my 8 1/2 month old in there as she's grown out of her infant seat. Has anyone else had this problem w/ their 4Runner (2005) and if so, what booster seat will fit tightly?? I'm looking at the Britax Regent and assuming it'll fit b/c of the Roundabout but we live in fairly small city and do not have many choices but to buy on line. So, I don't want to order 3 or 4 seats trying to find one that fits. Does anyone know much about the Recaro Sport??
thanks!!

It sounds like what you need is a visit to a tech, you can find one HERE. Just enter your state and zip code.

The BRU people rarely know anything about car seats, so just because they tell you something is so doesn't mean it is.

Try a Marathon for your 2 yo. It installs very much like the RA, but will get most kids to booster age, and if your toddler is still under 33 lbs will allow him/her to continue rear facing, which is safer.

How tall and heavy is your 2yo?

Did you know that LATCH is not any safer than a seatbelt install, it is just supposed to be easier for parents to use? And as you've found, that isn't always so. Try the seatbelt, and definitely visit a tech.

Knowing your 2yo's height and weight, and also how much space he has before his shoulders go over the top slots of the Roundabout, will help choose good options for him.

Thanks everyone for the info...my 2 yr. old is 34 - 35lbs and 35 1/2 in. I've always thought the latch was the safest, I guess I need to try to seatbelt. But if the shape of the seat is the problem, would that still be a problem? I'll check it out this week.

Again, it's not necessarily the shape of the seat. BRU employees are not properly trained regarding anything about car seats - corporate won't allow it.

Right, and I thought for liability purposes they were not even supposed to give advice or installation help.

At 34-35 pounds at age 2, you want a seat with a higher harnessed weight limit than 40 pounds. So scratch the Eddie Bauers, Coscos, Safety 1sts, Gracos and Evenflos off your list (except the Cosco/Safety 1st Apex).

Good choices:

Britax Marathon
Fisher Price Safe Voyage Deluxe
Cosco/Safety 1st Apex
Sunshine Kids Radian
Safeguard child seat
Britax Regent
