My Ride's RF leg room compared to TF.

My husband has a 33lb Marathon in his car for our son. (RF).

DS doesn't have near the leg room that he has in my car with our TrueFit.

But I was thinking about getting a My Ride for DH's car.

How does the RF leg room in a MR compare to the TF and a MA?

(additional info: DS is 21 months old, 28lbs and has a hand width of room above his head in the MA - and the MA expires in early 2011)

He will have more room in MR than the MA, but maybe not as much as the TF. NannyMom did a great comparison, but i can't find the thread at the moment.

Piper in the My Ride (6y11m old, too big for it RFing, but no complaints on her legs):

Piper in the True Fit Premier (7y1m, too heavy, but not too tall):

So perhaps a bit more in the TFP.

Nate will be 33 months when the MA expires.

I want to keep him RF ..I think ...right?

(instead of buying him a Frontier 65)

Depends. If he makes it to early 2011 I might buy him a FR85 (will he need that much harnessing and weight limit?). If he hits 33 pounds before that I'd rear face him.

I doubt he needs the room in a Frontier.

My kids tend to be long legged short torso'd. My DD still have 2 inches on her GN and is about to be 6 years old.

I could pass her GN down to him and get her in a booster full time (in early 2011).

To some extent it depends on the car too. My son is in a Marathon in our Pontiac Montana and a Roundabout 50 in the Pontiac Grand Am (basically the same car seat)

But he has much more "leg room" in the Pontiac Montana. (He doesn't complain in either car)

If you go to "community" then "photos", you should see some albums I made. I have an album showing the legroom of many convertibles....including the MA, TF, and MR. Same vehicle, same child. Sorry, I can't link to it from my phone.

I think the TF has the most leg room of those seats. If your siggy is right, and he's 28 pounds at not yet 2, I'd be looking at a 40 pound RF seat.

In pictures, my son appears to have more room in the MyRide than in the True fit but I think it is about the same, too close to really matter, IMO.

These were taken in Dec so he was about 27 months old, 37.5-38 inches, 34-35lbs, and a torso around 14.5-14.75 inches

My DD has more leg room in the TF, but has no issues with the room in the MR. The TF gives her some more front to back room and she can sit cross legged as well. She can't do that in the MR because the seating area is narrower; but she can frog her legs out (in both seats).
