Old Style Travel Vest

My aunt and I were talking about A's RSTV the other day and she got me very curious when she described the "vest" that she had for my cousin (who is 19 1/2 when he was somewhere around 3 or 4 years old). She said that it had a metal plate in the back that the shoulderbelt went through and that it could be used in both the car and the airplane. She said it was very solid and sturdy and I know they used it a lot since, at the time, my Uncle worked for an airline so they flew a lot. Anyone know what this could be or have pictures? Just very curious!

Is it the Cosco Tote 'N' Go? http://www.epinions.com/reviews/pr-Cosco_Tote_n_Go_93-900_Convertible_Car_Seat

I had one. It was almost impossible to install tightly in any car with a lap/shoulder belt (though it did okay with the ALR lap belt only in my dad's car), and it was outgrown very quickly, around the same time as the Cosco HBB.

It's not so much a vest as a side-less, bottom-less harness seat, though technically I suppose it's classed as a vest, since it's not wearable, it can stay installed in the car.

I think it was not FAA approved, though.
