So a local store finally got the Radian xtsl for me to try in my car. It fits.

However, before I spend the money I am wondering if I have looked at all the options and picked the safest seat.

Here are the facts:
Will be buckled in the middle with a lap belt in a Trooper. Seatbelts only- no latch. I had it retro fitted for a tether so yes I can tether the seat. We will be purchasing a Honda Odyssey this October so I need a seat that will fit in the new car :D as well.

My daughter is 34-35lbs. 37-38 inches. 3 years and 4 months old.

I can not rear face her in the summer because it is too hot. I may rear face her in the Odyssey but she will be almost 4 years old by then so who knows.

I have gone to our BabiesRUs but they do not carry all the carseats available.
What seats are out there that would work for her age? I like that the Radian has the eps foam, steel enforced, sits low on the seat, true side impact and good test results.

I do not like the Graco Nautilus. I do not care if it will convert to a booster later on as I can buy a booster if need be. I can order it online if I can not get it local.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Well it kind of depends on how many kids you need to fit in your trooper. If you need to do 3 across, then I'd definitely get the Radian, it's very narrow and for a convertible, has high top slots. Otherwise, I'd go for the Frontier 85, it's the longest lasting option. I don't care for the Nautilus either.

You said the Radian fits, does it install well in your vehicle? Did you try to install it? It can be tricky in quite a few vehicles, especially with a seatbelt install.

Have your tried aiming the air vent towards the ceiling, so it doesn't get too hot?
