Question 2010 Kia Forte - Anyone have one?

We got a Kia Forte as a rental car recently and absolutely loved it, so it is one of the cars I am looking at when my vehicle lease is up in a few months. We installed our Regent in the Forte with no problem whatsoever, but now I am considering buying a Turbobooster for my son as an alternate seat.

Any of you that own the vehicle - Does the Forte have a lap/shoulder combo in the rear middle seat? Ideally, that's where I would place the Turbobooster. I just can't remember from when I rented the car, and I can't find any info about it on the Kia website.

Thanks ahead of time!

New cars sold in the U.S. market have been required to have lap-shoulder belts in all rear seating positions since the 2008 model year. The Forte definitely has a lap-shoulder belt in the center rear seating position in both the 4-door version and the 2-door Forte Koup (Kia's spelling of coupe, not mine, lol). I actually double checked on the Koup model because not every coupe vehicle model has an actual center rear seating position but the Forte Koup definitely does from what I can see in the Koup's interior photo gallery at http://www.kia.com/#/forte-koup/explore/360-views-and-colors-interior/

Thanks so much! I searched on the Kia website for a long time without finding any info. I'd be getting the sedan, not the Koup. I have to say, I was very surprised at the quality of the vehicle when we rented it!

I feel better now, because the interiow views of the 4-door are just not available on the website yet for some reason. I thought I was missing something! Thanks again!

You're very welcome. :) Due to some timely info. from IIHS, I wanted to bump this thread back up for you because the IIHS has announced today that it's rating the 2010 Forte with a build date after October 2009 a top safety pick. This post in the News/Media section of the forum http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?p=1255685#post1255685 has the IIHS press release link and links to the crash test ratings for the 2010 Forte. Here's the specific blurb about what was improved for build dates after October 2009, something to double check on specific Fortes at the Kia dealership when you're car shopping to ideally purchase one manufactured after October 2009:

Because of deficiencies identified in an earlier test of the Forte, Kia made design changes to the B-pillar and roof structure to improve occupant protection in side impact crashes and rollovers beginning with 2010 models built after October 2009 (note: information about when a specific vehicle was manufactured is on the certification label typically affixed to the car on or near the driver door).

I wonder if those changes to the Forte's B-pillar and roof structure are why the photos of the 4-door Forte model aren't currently up on the Kia web page's photo gallery? Just a thought, but you'd think they would have current photos up by now several months after October 2009. Who knows, lol. You'll have to share pictures with us once you get your new car. Happy car shopping. :)

I'm hoping to do my car shopping via the internet as much as possible, but I will make sure to inquire about the post-October 2009 date. Thanks again!
