I have a 1996 Toyota Corolla and am having my second child. I need to know if it is possible to easily fit a rear facing Peg Perego Primo Viaggio car seat behind the passenger or the driver seat.

I'm not sure about fit, but I can say a PP infant seat wouldn't be my first choice for your car simply because the base lacks a seatbelt lock-off. There is a really good chance a tight and non-tippy installation (in either outboard/side seating location) will require a locking clip. Using a locking clip is far from fun, and not something that most parents enjoy doing -- specifically on a PP seat. If your car has a lap-only belt in the middle seating position of your backseat it will mean you won't need a locking clip, however because the handle on a PP seat must always be down while in the car, and the seat is so heavy to lift, most parents find a middle install to be rather inconvenient. That said, given that your car is older it might not be a bad idea to shoot for a middle install, but again, the PP wouldn't be my first choice (too heavy, and the handle is rather obnoxious to lower and lock into place).

Sooooo, that's a long drawn out story, and I suppose I didn't really answer your original question about fit, but wanted to mention the above info anyway.

The Chicco KeyFit would be my top pick for your car, though. Has a lock-off, it's lightweight, and the handle can be left up in the vehicle.

Hope that helps,

Yes, I already do have a Peg Perego and it would need to be behind one of the seats because there is a second car seat in the car for my older child. We are looking at buying a new vehicle anyways so that we have more room altogether.

We had the car seat in the middle with our first baby and it wasn't any problem there, but I know it could be an issue behind one of the seats. I actually found the PP to be rather easy to use and absolutely loved everything about it.
